湖北省仙桃市刘家垸为典型的垸内封闭型血吸虫病流行区,其钉螺由围垸前残存钉螺繁衍而来;主要传染源为耕牛,人群感染方式与生产、生活有关,感染高峰年龄组为青、壮年。根据试区的环境与产业特征,经采取以兴林改变生态环境为主,辅以药物灭螺及加强耕牛、人群化疗等优化防治对策,各主要指标明显下降:1991年钉螺面积约26.33万m ̄2,阳性钉螺密度0.0034只/框(每框面积=0.11m2),耕牛感染率72.2%,人群感染率15.6%;1995年钉螺面积降至198m ̄2,未发现阳性钉螺,无耕牛感染,人群感染率降至0.29%。
