血清中的抑癌多肽具有体外杀伤癌细胞的生物学活性,而对骨髓细胞影响甚小.其分子由十余种氨基酸组成.估计分子量2,500左右.血清中抑癌多肽可制成结晶,结晶后仍保持有抑癌活性.用血清抑癌多肽免疫家兔可获得抗血清及相应的IgG.用反向间接血凝法检测其在某些器官细胞中的分布,结果表明,血清抑癌多肽在脾细胞中的含量最高,在肝细胞、癌细胞及肌肉中含量极低.这一结果提示,血清抑癌多肽的来源与脾脏密切相关。
