From the perspective of ecological criticism, Ruskin’s “Sesame and Lily” were analyzed. Ruskin recognized the importance of nature long ago, believing that reverence and love for nature and life can cultivate the morality and religious piety of people. In his opinion, the separation of thoughts and emotions in the process of industrialization led to the emergence of social morals, the absence of virtue, and a host of other problems. The unification of thoughts and emotions that he insisted on is also reflected in the linguistic style of the book Sesame and the Lily; by virtue of this unification, he emphasizes that people should respect life and live a serious life. Therefore, the ideal society he built in this book is not a utopia, but a blueprint that inspires people to act.
