2004年1月5日,本刊第47期“封面故事”刊载读者羲川投书《告诉你一个缺失的戴尔》一文后,新浪、搜狐、网易和Chinabyte等众多知名网站均以第一时间在显著位置予以转载,使得该文在业界和读者群中引起巨大反响,戴尔(中国)的管理模式也首次全方位展示在人们面前。由于读者来信彻底撕开了戴尔(中国)公司的最后一块遮羞布,引起了戴尔公司的极大愤懑。《IT时代周刊》新近获悉,《告诉你一个缺失的戴尔》(以下简称《告》文)一文作者羲川(真名“王真”)已于2004年2月4日被戴尔(中国)公司“劝退”。但王真说,他事实上是被戴尔公司解雇的。本刊了解到,《告》文面市后,戴尔公司本无意于深究王真之责,告诉他“问题不大”,并要他“好好工作”。但春节假期过后,事情发展急转直下,直至元宵节前一天,戴尔高层找到王真谈话,说“事情罩不住了”,成胁他如果不愿意在个人履历上出现“开除”二字,最好选择“主动辞职”。在经过是否与戴尔(中国)“对簿公堂”的考虑后,王真选择了“主动离职”。怀着别样的心情离开戴尔(中国)公司。事情发展至此,本刊对整个事件出现这种结局深表遗憾,并对因为此文发表而给王真带来的影响表示最真诚的歉意。员工在媒体公开发表批评所在公司的言论,究竟是属于个人的言论自由,还是属于违反职业道德和劳动纪律的行为,公司据此辞退员工是否合法,成为戴尔企业文化风波延伸出来的一个法律问题。作为媒体,本刊只能就事实谈事实。但我们对戴尔此举的态度,诚如在《告》文编者按中所言,就企业运作而言,载尔无疑是成功的,但成功的企业是否就可以抛弃,甚至践踏一切与其主业无关的东西? 通过“王真事件”的发生,“人为什么要工作?”“人在工作中,还有没有其他的追求?”“对一家世界知名的企业来说,人性化管理还有无必要?”一系列的问题摆到了置身业界的每一个人的面前……
