何大一博士被美国《时代周刊》选定为该杂志1996年风云人物。何大一博士1952年出生于台湾省台中市,12岁时前往美国,中学毕业后,先后进入麻省理工学院和加州理工学院攻读物理学,获理学学士位,后又转而学医,先后获得加利福尼亚大学医学学士学位和哈佛大学医学博士学位。何大一博士是世界艾滋病研究权威,曾创造出艾滋病研究的多项第一,特别是他首创将艾滋病传统治疗用药 AZT、新药3TC 及蛋白酶抑制剂混合调配使用的所谓《鸡尾酒》式疗法,为人类带来了战胜艾滋病的一丝希望。由于他在艾滋病研究上取得杰出成就,于1991年被聘为著名的阿伦·戴蒙德艾滋病研究中心主任,目前他还兼任美国洛克菲勒大学病毒学
Dr. David Ho was selected as the magazine’s 1996 man by Time magazine in the United States. Dr Ho was born in Taichung City, Taiwan in 1952 and went to the United States at the age of 12. After graduating from high school, he entered Massachusetts Institute of Technology and California Institute of Technology in physics, received a bachelor’s degree in science and later switched to medicine. Received a Bachelor of Medicine from the University of California and a PhD from Harvard University. Dr. David Ho is the world authoritative AIDS researcher who has created many firsts in AIDS research. In particular, he pioneered the so-called “cocktail” therapy, which is a combination of AZT, a new drug 3TC and a protease inhibitor. Humanity has brought a glimmer of hope in the fight against AIDS. As a result of his outstanding achievements in AIDS research, was hired in 1991 as director of the famous Alan Diamond AIDS Research Center, currently he also serves as the United States virology at Rockefeller University
