Xu Peijun: What is the current status of oil painting in China? Zhang Zuying (Secretary General of China Oil Painting Society): At present, Chinese oil painting is showing a positive attitude and painters are actively exploring. What the West thinks of “painting being pushed to the edge” does not exist in China. New media art debut but oil painting is still an important force in the domestic art world. Xu Peijun: I think the study of Chinese oil painting, or need to be compared with Western oil painting. Compared with the West, what do you think about the current overall level of China’s oil painting? What are the most prominent problems in the field of oil painting? Zhang Zuying: At present, the oil paintings in China are really colorful with obvious diversification. We have all the “varieties” of the world and even have “varieties” that no one else has. However, the problems we face are the improvement of our level of humanistic thinking and skills
