In “The Vice Consul,” Margaret Duras suspended the time-flow in narration through narration, dialogue, and description, maintained a perpetual existence, and at the same time, juxtaposed and interspersed with multiple stories The juxtaposition of many small units of meaning spatially fills the present; the multiple spatialized scenes created by the montage of lens mosaics further reinforce the spatial structure of the novel. The research on “Vice Consul” in China is increasingly rich in many aspects, such as the musicality, poetic narration and missing subject in the novel. However, there is not much research on the above - mentioned narrative and the overall spatial form. The purpose of this paper is to analyze and interpret the spatial form of “Vice Consul” from the aspects of structure, content and reading subject with the help of Joseph Frank’s theory of spatial form. With a view to exploring the literary and aesthetic value of the novel, Space and its performance for more in-depth study.
