中国养蚕植桑历史悠久,是蚕丝的发源地,中国的丝绸在纺织品中是佼佼者,独占鳌头,闻名世界。早在公元前四、五世纪,希腊称中国为东方“丝绸”,我国的丝绸产品和丝绸技术就是通过“丝绸之路”传播到国外。长期以来,丝绸作为我国的传统产品,增进了我国与世界各国的经济,贸易交流,为国家创造了大量的外汇;丝绸也作为一种艺术品,增进了我国人民与世界各国人民的文化、艺术交流,使世界进一步了解古老文明的中国。

As early as in the 4th and 5th centuries BC, Greece claimed that China was the “silk” of the East.
