大功率增压柴油机要求提供有效的供气系统——具有高压比,大流量范围又不易喘振的高效率压气机,同时要求有能够改变喷嘴面积的高效率涡轮,使得涡轮能在低转速和小流量的发动机工况下保持高转速。美国陆军(TARACOM)为此目的发展了具有楔形可变扩压器以控制喘振的后弯式离心压气机和单独可转动的喷咀以控制进口面积的径流式涡轮。经过多次反复的设计研究和台架试验,大量的配机试验结果证明采用这种增压器可以使柴油机的性能有显著的改进。
High-power turbocharged diesel engines require an efficient air supply system - a high-efficiency compressor with a high pressure ratio and large surge range that is not prone to surge, as well as a high-efficiency turbine capable of varying nozzle area, enabling turbines to operate at low speeds and Low-flow engine operating conditions to maintain high speed. TARACOM developed for this purpose a radial turbine with a wedge-shaped variable diffuser to control the surge of a back-bending centrifugal compressor and a single rotatable nozzle to control the inlet area. After many repeated design studies and bench tests, a large number of machine test results show that using this supercharger can make a significant improvement in the performance of diesel engine.
