在现实生活中,人们常用“乱弹琴”比喻胡闹或胡扯;用“对牛弹琴”比喻对蠢人讲大道理是白费口舌,或讥笑有些人说话不看对象。这里的“琴”指的就是“古琴”。古琴,在古代常称作瑶琴、玉琴、丝桐、七弦琴等,是我国的一种古老而又富有民族特色的拨弦乐器,在我国音乐发展史上有重要地位。琴作为封建士大夫抒发感情的乐器,与棋、书、画并称“文人四雅”,深深的融入到了人们的生活之中。像《红楼梦》中元春的丫鬟就是用“抱琴”做名字的。
