For large and medium-sized aircraft carriers, AWACS aircraft is an indispensable standard equipment, is the aircraft carrier’s “Eye of the Sky.” In the field of the development of carrier-based fixed-wing early warning aircraft, the Americans can say they are far ahead. Since the E-2 Hawkeye AWACS came into service in the mid-1960s, it has accompanied the U.S. Navy’s carrier in the world ocean and has never missed an aircraft carrier in nearly half a century war. Actual combat has proved that aircraft carrier battle group (now the United States has been renamed “aircraft carrier strike group”) can attack good defensive, early warning aircraft play a very important role. While seeing the E-2 scenery, we can not help but think of the 44-year-old AWACS 44E AWACS flew by the former Soviet Union in the early ’90s. So far, the Jacques-44E is the only AWACS capable of rivaling the US Navy E-2. Although its development has been stalled for 15 years, it still has some positive significance for the future development of the ship-based fixed-wing AWACS.
