五五年八月三日午后約三时十分,在本溪市臨近后湖(即本溪湖)北面的一座小山,突然發生了巨大的响声,附近一公里以內的人都曾听到。我們听到这个响声之后,立即向發出响声的那座山望过去,見到山坡附近有无数的石塊,向下滾动,并且山坡頂部的岩層發生了很寬的裂縫,以大約每秒钟1～1.5公尺的速度裂开,裂縫逐漸擴大,五、六秒鐘以后才漸漸停歇下來。 筆者現在把該山的地質情况及發生地滑现象与發生裂縫的原因介紹如下:
At about 3.10 pm on August 3, 1950, suddenly a huge noise suddenly struck a hill to the north of Benxi after Houhu (Benxi Lake), and people within a kilometer away heard it. As soon as we heard the noise, we went over to the mountain that made its noise, and saw countless stones near the hill, rolling down, and a wide crack in the rock formation at the top of the hill, at about every second 1 to 1.5 meters speed split, the cracks gradually expanded, five or six seconds later gradually stopped. The author now describes the geological conditions of the mountain and the reasons for the slippery phenomenon and the occurrence of cracks as follows:
