从全国解放初期学习初级政治经济学时,我们就懂得了一条基本原理,即经济基础决定上层建筑,上层建筑反作用于经济基础。令我大惑不解的是,三中全会以来,全国工业、农业各条战线全都大力反“左”,唯独文艺上一再反右,甚至至今认为“反右不力”。现在文艺上也终于提出“要着重克服和防止‘左’的影响”了(见9月18日各报)。这是一大喜讯。看来我们的戏剧创作也大有希望了。评论作品时,应允许自由讨论;作家搞创作,也应允许作家有选择和处理题材的自由,否则文艺就难繁荣。应该承认,戏剧所受到的干预,比其他艺术品种都严重一些。因为它是视听形象艺术,容易受到各方注意。写成小说发表,没有什么问题;把同样的内容写成戏,就容易遭到非难。戏剧的处境向来都是最艰难的。我想谈一件具体的事,就是关于高行健《绝对信号》的评奖问题。高行健是个很有才华又很勤奋的作
