谭平山是中国近代史上一位有建树、有影响的民主革命家。他不仅是中国共产党最早的党员之一,广东共产党组织的创建人之一,也是我国工人运动最早的践行者和主要领袖之一。他重视工人教育,创办工人夜校并亲自教授课程;他着手组建各种行业的工会,领导工人与资本家斗争。同时他在报刊上发表大量文章,向工人宣传马克思主义,提高工人阶级意识,指导工人斗争;他担任中国劳动组合书记部南方部主任,支持香港海员大罢工。作为第一次全国劳动大会主席团成员,他实际参与了对全国工人运动的领导,在全国工人运动中产生了巨大和深远的影响。 Tan Pingshan is a founding and influential democratic revolutionary in modern Chinese history. He is not only one of the earliest party members of the Chinese Communist Party, one of the founding members of the Communist Party of Guangdong, and one of the earliest practitioners and chief leaders of the Workers’ Movement in our country. He valued the education of workers, founded night schools for workers and personally taught courses; he set about building trade unions in various industries and leading the struggle between workers and capitalists. At the same time, he published a large number of articles in newspapers and magazines, propagating Marxism to the workers, raising the awareness of the working class and guiding the workers’ struggle. He was the director of the South China Department of the Secretary of the China Labor Portfolio, and supported the general strike of seafarers in Hong Kong. As the first member of the presidium of the National Labor Assembly, he actually took part in the leadership of the national workers ’movement and had a tremendous and far-reaching influence in the country’s workers’ movement.
