一、概论压铸模的工作寿命受多种因素的影响,如设计、材料、加工工艺、使用、压铸机性能、压铸件本身的设计等。由于压铸件的精度、表面质量要求不同,其他有关工艺条件不同,即使外形相似、重量相近,其模具寿命也很难互作比较。一般而言,模具的工作寿命并非一个固定值,而是一个范围。1979年国内铝合金压铸模平均工作寿命约3~5万次,1981、1983年,铝合金压铸模寿命水平已提高到5~7万次。通常,把实际寿命低于平均工作寿命下限50%的模具称为早期失效,高于平均工作寿命上限30%的模具称为长效。
