一流的领导人必定具有丰富的内心,而且他们正是以内在的丰富性领导企业从胜利走向胜利的。丰富的内心在这里是指健康、自足的心灵。有“丰富内心”的人,不仅心胸博大,而且注重“双赢”原则,沟通时先了解别人,再求被人了解。这种人没有占有欲,内心充满自然而然的安全感。具有丰富内心的领导人,必然也是以原则为重心的领导人。换句话说,愈坚持以原则为重心,愈能培养“内在的丰富性”。内在的丰富性来自内在的安全感,而不是外在的排名、比较、意见、拥有或关系。如果自身的安全感是从这些俗务而来,当这些俗务变动,就会影响到他们的生活。“贫乏心灵”的主张者认为资源是稀少的,若同僚获得升迁,朋友得到认同或取得重大成就,自己的安全感或自我身份即受到威胁,即使口头上赞誉有加,内心却是痛苦不堪,这些人的安全感是和他人比较而来,而不是来自对自然法则与原则的信仰。愈坚持以自我为重心,愈能培养内在的丰富性,愿意与他人分享权力、利润和认同,也愈能为他人的功成名就感到高兴。别人的成就对自己的影响是正面的,而非负面的。
