The authors prospectively treated 18 consecutive patients with low-grade olig odendroglial tumors without postoperative radiotherapy. The treatment strategy wa s as follows: follow-up after total resection and chemotherapy after subtotal r esection or biopsy. All patients were alive and 17 patients (94%) were progress ion-free after a median follow-up of 4.7 years. The results suggested that rad iotherapy could be postponed until clinical progression in the treatment of low -grade oligodendroglial tumors.
