The purpose of this article is to understand the mechanism by which the brain controls eye movement and to determine which part of the brain is most important to eye movements. The authors collected 87 patients with unilateral brain lesions, including 32 cases of frontal lobe, 22 cases of parietal lobe, 6 cases of temporal lobe, 6 cases of occipital lobe, 16 cases of cerebral hemorrhage and 5 cases of unilateral brain enlargement. Spontaneous nystagmus and gaze nystagmus were observed, and positional nystagmus was examined using Frenzel spectacles. Horizontal and vertical eye movements recorded with electronystagmograph. Induced nystagmus with 5 ℃ water 20ml method. Examination included spontaneous nystagmus, open nystagmus, visual follow-up test and visual inhibition test with open eyes, closed eyes and open eyes in dark room. The results show that: in the brain
