Escher’s “Impossible World” A waterfall poured down from above, turning the water wheel. Then the water flows down the bricked drains. However, this stream actually flowed to the top of the waterfall, then poured down again, turning the water wheel. It is like a perpetual motion machine, and when you look closely, you will see that the water actually flows in a plane (“waterfall”). In a two-story viewing tower, a steeply erected ladder, with its top end leaning to the outside of the viewing tower while the ladder legs stand in the building. No matter who climbs the ladder, can not figure out whether it is inside or outside the pavilion (“observation deck”).
