The successful Rom elt process developed by the Moscow Iron & Steel Research Institute is done in a single furnace. The furnace is similar to an electric furnace. The hearth and lower furnace wall are made of refractory material, while the upper furnace wall is a tubular water-cooled furnace wall. Furnace from the bottom up are: 1. Quiet metal zone; 2.
