“一心记住六亿人口,两眼看清九个指头。”这是陈叔通先生在1960年元旦写下的一副对联。这寥寥16字,不但有极强的思想内涵,而且对仗工整,艺术上也属上乘。我现在试着把它改换一个字,成为“一心记住十亿人口,两眼看清九个指头”。今天,新闻工作者把这副对联作为自己的“座右铭”,并从中吸取有益的营养,恐怕是非常恰当的。我国是一个有着11亿人口的大国,这就是中国最大的国情,我们无论是解决吃饭、穿衣、住房、交通还是其他问题,都必须从11亿人口这个最大的国情出发。而新闻工作者在宣传有中国特色的社会 “I will always remember six hundred million people and I will see nine fingers in my eyes.” This is a couplet written by President Chen Shuntong on New Year’s Day in 1960.
