The crash of the “Columbia” space shuttle has prompted the United States to speed up the process of developing new spacecraft and at the same time deeply pressure Russia. Without the space shuttle’s support, the heavy burden of transport on the ISS landed on Russia’s Progress cargo ship, which will surely affect the timely completion of the International Space Station. It has also given ATV the attention it has not yet come out. Now, ESA is sparing no effort to develop a new type of cargo spacecraft - ATV. It is generally hoped that the ATV will be put into operation on time so as to undertake the heavy transportation tasks of the ISS along with the Progress cargo ship. However, for various reasons, the ATV launch has had twists and turns.
