等深流是由于地球旋转形成温盐水循环深海底流,根据国内外等深流及等深流沉积研究的最新成果,分析等深流形成的原因,重点描述等深流沉积的鉴别标志、古今等深流沉积的垂向层序、等深流沉积的岩石类型及等深流沉积体的类型。古近等深流及等深流沉积研究已取得一定的成果,但在等深流沉积的主控因素、重要鉴别标志和岩石类型特征方面相对薄弱。随着深水油气勘探的发展,世界多个深水盆地和我国南海北部深水区珠-琼盆地相继发现地史时期等深流沉积,等深流沉积体作为潜在的油气储层,使等深流及等深流沉积研究再次受到重视。
