Peripheral artery and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring in 120 patients with essential hypertension (EH) found that peripheral arterial lesions were associated with the development of EH. The arterial lesions in different sites responded differently to the increase in blood pressure. The carotid artery was more sensitive to changes in blood pressure, especially with systolic pressure 24h ambulatory blood pressure, carotid artery disease increased, lower extremity arterial blood pressure does not change. Forty-six patients with mild EH undergoing coronary angiography underwent treadmill exercise test and found that vasodilator reaction was impaired in the presence of lower extremities and coronary arteries. This abnormality of arterial pressure had no significant relationship with changes of blood pressure.
