麦角是一种霉菌寄生於麦类及其他禾本科植物上所生成的菌核,近年我国亦有发现。主要产区为苏联、波兰、西班牙等国。麦角有剌激子宫,使其收缩的作用,故其制剂常用於分娩後,使子宫收缩,以减少流血而促使其复原。此外麦角尚有对抗交感神经的作用,可使副肾碱的升压作用,变为将压作用。中毒时麦角破坏毛细管而产生坏疽。 Ergot is a kind of sclerotium produced by mold parasitization on wheat and other gramineous plants.
