Objective To study the olfactory dysfunction in patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD) and its relationship with the course and severity. Methods According to Hoehn-Yahr classification and Webster’s score, 32 patients with primary PD over the age of 60 were examined for simple olfactory test and compared with normal controls. Results The incidence of olfactory dysfunction (olfactory loss and olfactory dysfunction) in PD patients was 96.9%, which was significantly different from that in the control group (48%) (P <0.01). The Hoehn-Yahr classification showed that grade Olfactory disorders were more obvious (P <0.05 compared with grade), and had no relation with the course of disease (P> 0.05). Conclusion PD patients have obvious olfactory disorders, has nothing to do with the course of the disease, and the disease.
