Studies have suggested that in order to prevent infections, an infection control nurse (ICN) should be provided in every 250 beds in the hospital. In 1988, the British ratio was 1 850, and it was only possible to focus on patients who may cause cross-contamination. To this end, the authors recommend a “T-card” system, in which each card records a case that requires monitoring of patients with “active” microorganisms. These cards are displayed on a large display card that lists the location of the various wards in the hospital and the distribution of such patients in the hospital, providing cluster conditions for early detection of infection. When the patient dies or is discharged, the card is archived. Laboratory-based disease
