After more than 40 years of cross-Strait relations, there is little exchange between the two sides in the aviation medical community. In the long run, the three direct exchanges across the Taiwan Strait will be imperative and it is necessary to understand each other earlier. To this end, the Taiwan Aviation Medical Association took the initiative to invite CAAC doctors and surgeons to visit Taiwan. Although a slight setback, the first week-long “Symposium on Aviation Medical Academic Exchanges” ended in June 25-26, 1996 in Taipei Held. Six people, led by chief physician Liu Jianting of Air China and CAI Shengqiu, deputy director of CAAC Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, attended the seminar. The members covered the heads of aviation and medical affairs of CAAC5 major airlines and were highly representative . It also reflects the importance the two sides attach to this academic exchange.
