The activity of interleukin-6 (IL-6) in synovial fluid of 36 patients diagnosed as TMJ stage (dysfunction stage, structural disorder and organic change stage) was detected. The results showed that the activity of IL-6 was related to the degree of TMJDS lesion. With the aggravation of disease, the activity of IL-6 increased. The level of IL-6 to some extent reflects the strength of the autoimmune reaction within the joint. TMJDS patients with intra-articular osteoarthropathy (OA) lesions expose blocked antigen in cartilage, induce an autoimmune response and stimulate the production of IL-6, and elevated IL-6 activity in turn increases TMJOA by enhancing the autoimmune response Lesions, so a vicious circle. The study of IL-6 will help to solve the problem of long-lasting TMJOA course of disease and prolonged healing, thus making clinical treatment more effective.
