现代社会,人们对天然气的依赖越来越大。天然气作为工业能源、生活燃料及其它原料,被广泛应用于化工、医药、军工等领域。方便、清洁、优质、高效,这些特性使天然气作为新能源越来越广泛地被运用。目前,在能源消费比例中,天然气已经占到14%,并呈逐年增长的趋势。然而,天然气中所含的H_2S、CO_2等有毒有害物质决定了天然气并非拿来就可以用,有毒有害物质一旦泄露会造成污染,特别是四川盆地天然气含硫量每立方米大多在几克至200多克之间,有时哪怕吸入几口,都极易致人于死地。天然气净化是放心使用的先决,是天然气开发必需又十分重要的环节。但是,这“天然之气”极其复杂的净化过程却鲜为人知。可以这样说,自从第一口气井的气流喷涌而出时,脱硫就成为一个亟待解决的问题。从当初的单井脱硫到成套净化装置的规模化脱硫,从最早的黄土法、碱液法“土”法脱硫到纯胺法脱硫,四川油气田天然气净化在摸索中曲折发展,技术已经达到世界先进水平。
