Toby: So, did all this global recession stuff hit you in Asia?
Stephanie: I guess we were affected slightly, but not nearly as badly as you guys and other western countries. Are things stabilizing now?
Toby: Well, trading has been relatively calm, but every now and then we will get a turbulent period. All the experts are saying we should expect the markets to remain erratic for the next few months. Some believe ①the worst is yet to come.
Stephanie: You’re kidding. Could it get any worse?
Toby: Sure. What we just experienced was the worst we had seen in seven years, but it was nothing compared to the Wall Street crash in 1929.
Stephanie: ②Seems I’ve entered a very sticky situation.
Toby: You got that right. ③Everyone is really on edge. Doing trade is not like it used to be. ④No one is willing to take a gamble in the market.
Stephanie: I don’t blame them. From what I’ve heard everything could collapse overnight. It’s a very stressful time for everyone. ⑤I just hope I have what it takes to weather the storm.
Toby: Well, judging from what Mr. Jacobs has said, you seem to have all it takes to make it here. ⑥You’ve got your head screwed on. And the way he spoke about you, ⑦it seems like you can do no wrong.
Stephanie: You and he are greatly mistaken. ⑧I’ve made my fair share of mistakes in the past.
Toby: Oh so you are human after all? Well, here is your office. Make yourself at home.
Stephanie: Thanks. Where can I find you if I need anything?
Toby: I’m in the office next door.
  Stephanie: Great!
