Obviously, “Going Global” has been included in the agenda of China’s telecom operators: with the help of NEWBridgeCapital and Softbank in 2003, China Netcom obtained a 51% stake in AsiaGlobalCrossing and China Telecom hopes to acquire a 60% stake in Indonesia, though this The plan eventually ran aground; China Unicom and the Romanian government signed a memorandum of cooperation to provide technical support for it; in 2004 China Telecom became Russia’s third-largest telecom operator Megafon’s strategic investors; May 2005 China Unicom won the Macau cdma20001X license. Recently, China Mobile plans to buy Pakistan Telecom to compete with Etisalat. A sketchy look, we think the internationalization of China’s telecom operators ideas is not clear: What is the focus of the Chinese operators regional? What is its foreign strategy?
