This week, GlobalCenter, a Silicon Valley company, will unveil a new technology that will address the issue of how data can be delivered from large outlets faster and more efficiently to networked users no matter where they are located. GlobalCenter called the technology “Digital Distribution,” a software and hardware system that takes data from outlets and sends them back to the client, promising to sidestep annoying network traffic and over-hectic outlets. Analysts say GlobalCenter is one of those companies that have seen the crowding of networks and growing demand for content drive the emergence of businesses that tackle this paradox. The increasing number of outlets such as music, video and other high-bandwidth delivery of content will make such a business even more important. “This is a nascent business, so it’s also a side-by-side race,” said Forrester Research analyst David Cooperstein. “They are the most creative people who can change the status quo.” Doug Hickey, chairman and chief executive of GlobalCenter, The company currently has more than 10,000 partners and customers, including outlets like Yahoo, Netscape, At Hand and Quote.Com.
