Weeler and I have been invited to watch a religious ceremony in a backcountry temple in Bhutan. Bhutan is a sparsely populated, secluded Buddhist kingdom that restricts travel by collecting expensive entry fees. This visit made me deeply impressed by Bhutan’s self-esteem, subtle ethnicity and their bizarre religious rituals. The Wehler couple wrote about the book’s visit.
