A wide range of cars continuous transmission helps to reduce fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. The use of such gearing for a hybrid drive system will yield a number of other benefits. This article describes a new solution that will greatly expand the speed control range of today’s mass-produced continuously variable transmissions. These methods apply to all drive modes: front or rear wheel drive, motor mounting in either horizontal or vertical direction. The method of evaluation presented helps to choose the best option. Such a solution can further reduce fuel consumption and reduce exhaust emissions with minimal additional costs.
