进入八十年代以来,全球性的“体育热”、“健身热”有增无减,日益向社会化、家庭化、娱乐化、科学化、定量化发展。纵观各国群众体育现状,有如下特点。健身慢跑长盛不衰七十年代以来,慢跑热开始在一些国家出现,1975年,法国医生德尔贝克发起倡导这一锻炼活动,1978年在法国120个城市同时举办名为“心脏健康之路”的步行和慢跑活动,这条“心脏健康之路”逐渐伸展到美国、法国、联邦德国、日本、新加坡。有的国家专门辟有慢跑公园,各种慢跑定量化科学化的检测方法及公式也竞相出现,使健身慢跑更纳入科学定量化的轨道。健身慢跑简易可行,而且对增强心肺功能、预防心血管疾病,有良好作用,因此参加者由青壮年
