长期以来,人们在外语学习与教学的实践过程中发现,学习一门外国语,如果只掌握其基本的语音、语法知识和一定数量的词汇,虽能造出乃至讲出许多符合语法和语义规则的句子来,但在同外国人的实际交往中,有些句子却往往用得不恰当或不得体,甚至违反所学语言的文化规则,导致交际失误。这种教训使我们深刻地认识到,外语教学不能只局限于语言系统本身,而还应把与所教语言有关的文化背景知识明确纳入教学之中,使外语教学深入到语言系统外的现实生活中
