The main performance indicators of analog and digital recorders are discussed in detail: (1) spatial resolution and data accuracy; (2) frequency response and sampling frequency; (3) linearization error; (4) graphic quality. The construction and principles of analog recorders, thermal array recorders, and electrostatic array recorders are outlined. Finally, the technical performance of the two recorders is compared and it is pointed out that the digital recorder represents a new direction for the development of recorders.
