2001年6月8日，建国以来湖南省新晃县最大的国家公职人员挪用公款案在县人民法院公开审理。审判长严正宣判：被告人曾小燕于1999年6月至2001年1月期间，曾先后20次采取借用他人银行账户和私设银行储蓄账户的手段，利用经管财政住房基金的职务之便，大肆挪用财政住房基金18．27万元进行非法活动，其行为已触犯刑法，构成挪用公款罪，判处有期徒刑九年。审判长话音刚落，站在被告席上的曾小燕顿时流下了悔恨的泪水。然而，这仟悔的泪水却洗刷不了她挪用公款的罪名。
