Fitzgerald & Hallpike (1942) introduced the hot and cold test, mainly for diagnosis. Quantitatively stimulate the external semicircular canal, induced nystagmus, and determine the response. However, there are sometimes confusion and abnormal reactions - the dominant bias or DP. It can occur in the brain from the cerebral cortex to all levels of organic damage to the nervous system. In some cases there is value, but sometimes not obvious. Many people who want to test hot and cold helps diagnose problems, DP seems to be a source of disappointment and confusion. This situation is undoubtedly unpopular, and the review of nearly 30 years of literature found that it appeared to evoke several important theoretical questions.
