According to the paper (David E. Evans, author of the ELT Journal, July 1979, reports that in many eastern European countries many engineering students take English first as a subject in lower grades For example, in Poland, students from every engineering college must complete 300 hours of English training in the fourth and fifth semesters, 2-4 hours a week, and oral exercises are often used in teaching. Vance said that in spite of criticism of the method in recent years, no one has so far proposed any generally acceptable method to replace it.
