东风系列运动手枪共有5款,分为东风一型5.6mm短弹速射运动手枪、东风二型5.6mm慢射运动手枪、东风三型5.6mm普及型运动手枪、东风四型7.62mm转轮运动手枪和东风五型5.6mm标准运动手枪。东风一型运动手枪于1978年正式用于射击比赛,包括SS01～SS04共4种型号,其中SS01为原型;SS02在SS01基础上改为单排供弹;SS03在SS02基础上改为方形宽节套,使质心前移;SS04则是采用组合式击发发射机构。图为SS02型速射手枪。东风一型速射手枪曾广泛用于国家及省级运动射击队的训练,但自2004年雅典奥运会后,国际射联取消男子自选手枪速射项目的专用手枪(配用运动短弹),东风一型运动手枪也就退出了运动枪历史的舞台。
