根据1991年~1992年中日联合调查小组在碘缺乏病区吉林省吉林市丰满区青山村,非病区吉林省通榆县四井子乡的调查结果,对病区462例和非病区206例1岁~18岁年龄段人群甲状腺体积与生长发育的关系进行分析研究,发现供碘后缺碘地区未成年人群甲状腺体积略大于非缺碘地区,但都处于正常范围,而且,无论病区还是非病区,人群甲状腺体积的变化与年龄增长呈正相关,并且有明显的阶段性变化。10岁之前甲状腺增长较平稳,11岁~16岁甲状腺体积增大幅度明显高于其它年龄段。这与人体正常发育第二突增相对应。
