所谓别号,就是古人名、字以外的一种称号,与名字不一定有意义上的联系,但往往也有某种缘由或作某种标榜,或自嘲、或自贬、或自诩、或寄情寓志。如宋代欧阳修,家有藏书一万卷,有集录了三代以来的金石遗文一千卷,有琴一张,棋一局,常置酒一壶,再加上他一人常处五物之间,于是自号“六一居士”;晚年,他写过散文名篇《醉翁亭记》,又以“醉翁”自称。 别号一般由前后两部分组成。前半部分或与所居地名有关,或者与自己的志趣有关;后半部分常采用“居士”、“道人”、“先生”、“客”、“翁”、“斋’等字眼。 一、“××居士”式。古称有才能而居不仕的人为居士,在家信佛的人也称居士。古人以此为号,以示品行高洁。如欧阳修自号”六一居士”。当然,也不一定全含此义,有的可能纯粹以居住地名为号。李白号“青
