Hyaluronan (HA) is a sugar polymer composed of repeating units of β1-3 D-N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) and β1-4 D-glucuronic acid (GlcA) disaccharide. HA has a wide range of applications in the biomedical field, such as ophthalmic surgery and osteoarthritis treatment. To date, commercialized HA has only been derived from crest extraction or pathogenic streptococcal fermentation. This study confirmed
