The Nd-Fe-B sintered magnet mainly consists of the main phase Nd 2 Fe 14 B, the intergranular Nd-rich phase and a small amount of B-rich phase, and other phases may exist in the magnet due to the incorporation of oxygen during the preparation. Some authors have reported some evidence of the existence of these phases and speculated that they function as pinned domain walls during anti-magnetization. To further investigate these other phases in the magnet, we systematically studied the microstructure and coercivity of a series of Nd-Fe-B sintered magnets with high Nd content. It is found that there is indeed a new pinning phase in the magnet. This article is a brief account of this new phase.
