In this paper, a rule is given, which is a sufficient condition. According to this rule, in order to synthesize amorphous alloy in multi-layer structure sample by ion beam mixing method, if the binary system is selected, the compositional metal has different composition Crystal structure without regard to its atomic size and negative charge. The rule is based on the authors’ experimental results from the six selected systems, and the experimental results reported in earlier literature are consistent with this. We also discuss the mechanism by which ion beams synthesize amorphous phases-due to the competition between two different crystal structures that hinder the progress of the crystallization process, resulting in an amorphous phase.
