Japanese scientists tested the brain activity of hundreds of teenagers playing Nintendo games and compared the results with those of other students who did simple, repetitive math. To their surprise, computer games only stimulate the part of the brain that is linked to vision and exercise, hindering the development of children’s brains. In contrast, arithmetic stimulates the frontal lobe of the left hemisphere and
