“读图时代”存在着一场不见硝烟的图像对文字的“战争”,文学被众多的导演放逐,人们越来越重视电影的视觉效果,而忽略其必不可少的叙事艺术,部分电影作品过分追求感官刺激,迎合庸俗低级趣味,致使电影文化中暴力和色情泛滥。随着文化艺术商品化和产业化的发展,“唯美化”的形式主义倾向不再是纯粹的艺术追求, 而成为谋求商业利益的电影策略,从而陷入某种危机。面临这些危机,电影必须从文学中汲取精华,才有可能走出窘境,重获生机。
