《周易·蒙卦》和儒家的教育思想有着密切的渊源关系。且看《蒙卦》的卦辞: ■(下坎上艮)蒙,亨。匪我求童蒙,童蒙求我。初筮告,再三渎,渎则不告。利贞。蒙:据《尚书·洪范传》解,“蒙,阴闇”;《尚书正义》说:“性不通晓,则行必蒙闇,故蒙对圣也”;可知“蒙”即闇昧不明的意思。为什么要以“蒙”为本卦卦名呢?这还得从卦体上说起。卦体的上卦是艮,为山,下卦是坎,为水,象征山下有一股泉水刚从地底冒出来,它还不清楚外界的情况,又无现成的沟渠可循,故不知流向何处为宜,致处于闇昧不明的状态,这是初生事物的必然现象,故《象传》说:“山下出泉,蒙”,《序卦传》也说:“物生必蒙”,“物之稚也”。蒙卦卦象的内容决定了蒙卦的卦名。
